{"id":86288,"date":"2024-06-20T15:44:32","date_gmt":"2024-06-20T15:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/council.science\/?post_type=events&#038;p=86288"},"modified":"2025-07-28T12:56:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T12:56:03","slug":"iupac-2025","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/council.science\/events\/iupac-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"53rd IUPAC general assembly and World Chemistry Congress 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC)<\/a> is pleased to announce the <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IUPAC 2025<\/a> &#8211; comprising two major meetings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/event\/53rd-iupac-general-assembly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">53rd IUPAC General Assembly (53GA)<\/a>: the occasion for meetings of the statutory bodies of the Union, specifically of the Council, Division Committees, and Standing Committees, Science and Executive Board: 12 &#8211; 16 July 2025 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/event\/iupac-world-chemistry-congress-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">50th IUPAC World Chemistry Congress 2025<\/a>: 14 to 19 July 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-pale-ocean-gradient-background has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guiding principles of responsible chemistry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;A bold, forward-looking framework designed to transform how chemistry is practiced, taught, and perceived worldwide&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"297\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/council.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Guiding-Principles_-ICON-297x300-2.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-106218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/council.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Guiding-Principles_-ICON-297x300-2.webp 297w, https:\/\/council.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Guiding-Principles_-ICON-297x300-2-100x100.webp 100w, https:\/\/council.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Guiding-Principles_-ICON-297x300-2-198x200.webp 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Principles are more than a code of ethics: they are a call to action for scientists, educators, industry leaders, policy-makers, and the next generation of chemists to align their work with humanity\u2019s most urgent needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Principles aim to spark a cultural shift across the entire chemistry enterprise &#8211; from university labs to multinational corporations. They are especially targeted toward students and young scientists, equipping them to lead with purpose and integrity in a rapidly changing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/guiding-principles-of-responsible-chemistry\/\" data-content=\"Read the press release\">Read the press release<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/responsible-chemistry\" data-content=\"Access the principles\">Access the principles<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with other side-events these two events will attract more than 3,000 delegates from all over the globe. This marks the first time that these global chemistry extravaganzas are taking place in an ASEAN country, and has created immense enthusiasm and excitement among chemists from this part of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GA and the 50WCC will share the same venue, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Malaysia, and also share several events, including a joint opening and reception. Detailed information about the Congress is available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.iupac2025.org<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/ga-programme-detailed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">program<\/a>, call for <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/abstract-submission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abstract<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">registration<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of IUPAC 2025,&nbsp;\u201cChemistry for Sustainable Future\u201d, underscores IUPAC&#8217;s commitment to exploring chemistry\u2019s pivotal role in addressing global sustainability challenges. In addition to the scientific sessions on various disciplines in chemistry,&nbsp;IUPAC 2025&nbsp;also includes a special cluster of symposia on \u201cChemistry and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)\u201d focusing on chemistry providing solutions and remedies to SDGs. As IUPAC celebrates the 50th Edition of the biennial World Chemistry Congress, it also commemorates \u201c100 years of Excellence in Chemistry Research and Innovations\u201d at the 50WCC. Additionally, there will also be a cluster of special themed symposia covering topics such as gender, diversity, equity &amp; inclusiveness, professionalism &amp; code of ethics, young chemists\u2019 networks, world chemistry leadership programmes, chemical weapons convention, emerging technologies &amp; innovations in chemistry, and other relevant subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac2025.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IUPAC 2025 website<\/a> for more updated information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration to the GA is free but required.
