The Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC) is pleased to announce that the 2025 Biennial Conference will be held on 3-5 December 2025 in New Delhi, India. Generously hosted by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), this conference will bring together leading experts to explore the critical role of social sciences in shaping sustainable and equitable futures in the Indo-Pacific region.
The 2025 AASSREC Biennial General Conference will be an in-person event in New Delhi, complemented by hybrid participation options. Sessions will include keynote addresses, paper presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
The Indo-Pacific region is undergoing rapid, multidimensional change, shaped by demographic transitions, technological disruption, geopolitical realignments, environmental degradation, and widening socio-economic inequalities. As these forces intersect and intensify, they present a series of interdependent challenges that are reshaping the region’s political, cultural, and ecological landscape.
The 2025 AASSREC–ICSSR Biennial Conference, centered on the theme “Social Science Research in the Indo-Pacific for Sustainable Futures,” will provide a platform for scholars, policymakers, and civil society actors to reflect on the evolving role of social sciences in this context. It seeks to explore how interdisciplinary, locally grounded, and globally informed research can generate actionable insights for sustainable, inclusive, and just futures.
