The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) are pleased to announce the 2025 joint conference and the 3rd youth innovation forum of Digital Earth which will be held at KCA university in Nairobi, Kenya from 2 to 4 December 2025.
The Youth Innovation Forum on Digital Earth is an annual conference series launched in 2023 by the ISDE, organized under its Young Scientist Innovation Network (ISDE‑YSIN). It’s a global platform for young researchers and scientists working in Digital Earth and related geospatial technologies, emphasizing their role in addressing sustainable development challenges. Digital Earth refers to the integration of earth observation data (like remote sensing, GIS, big earth data) and digital technologies for environmental monitoring, climate resilience, urban planning, and sustainable policies.
The conference theme “Innovation and Future Trends in Geo-Digitalization for Sustainable Development” emphasizes how geospatial data and digital earth technologies can help achieve the United Nations’ SDGs, through enhanced decision-making, environmental monitoring, urban resilience, and more.
This event will include keynote talks by Prof. Jianya Gong, professor of Wuhan University and an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Alexander Zipf, distinguished GIScientist from Heidelberg University, Chair of the GIScience Group and head of Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology (HeiGIT).
The programme will include plenary sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and poster/oral presentations.
The conference is open to researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working at the intersection of remote sensing, GIS, geo‑AI, and Digital Earth technologies, young scientists (including participants in the Youth Innovation Forum), early‑career researchers or graduate students and professionals focused on how geo‑digital technology can directly contribute to SDG implementation.
