Backround

Prof. Raymond Jagessar obtained his BSc (distinction) in Chemistry/Biology from the University of Guyana (1992) and his PhD from the UK (1995). He is also accredited with a Post graduate DipEd (distinction) in higher education from the University of Guyana. He held two Post Doctoral Research Fellowships (PDF) in the USA and one at the University of the West Indies during the period, 1996-1999. He has several international awards, amongst them are Chartered Chemist, CChem, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, FRSC, member of the American Chemical Society, Fellow of TWAS, Fellow of CAS, Research and travelleng Grants, etc. He was one of the awardees of the Guyana Innovation Prize, 2021. In addition, he has been a reviewer of several international journals. His research interests are broad, covering the spectrum of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry. He has published over one hundred (100) research articles, five book chapters, one hard cover book, three e-books and presented over 100 conferences, locally, regionally and internationally. He has given keynote presentations at several conferences and is currently Professor in Chemistry at the University of Guyana (South America), past President of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences, CAS and currently Foreign Secretary of CAS.
