• Without adaptation and mitigation, Asia is more exposed to physical climate risk than other parts of the world — putting global sustainability at risk
• High population and economic growth and associated vulnerability of the socio-ecological systems under the combined anthropogenic threats and climate change impacts.
• Biodiversity within and between ecosystems is declining rapidly in Asia, with human interventions negatively impacting the delicate balance of the natural ecosystem.

Co-Design and Stakeholder Engagement: Bringing together scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to define shared sustainability priorities.

Knowledge Integration: Synthesizing fragmented information from local, national, and global sources to create actionable insights that can be applied elsewhere. The Mission will establish a peer-to-peer sharing platform to share successes and failures of adaptive measures and sustainability initiatives.

Demand Driven Projects: Projects are implemented where the partners resources and expertise can be effectively applied to the needs, capacity, and conditions across Asian communities to address key challenges. Guidelines and methodologies will be provided for deploying science-based sustainability solutions at scale.

Capacity Building: The mission will build the capacity of transdisciplinary sustainability research skillset of scientists, early-career researchers. Training modules will be designed to equip stakeholders with the skills and knowledge necessary for sustainability transitions.

Science-Policy Dialogue: Facilitating communication between scientific communities and decision-makers to support evidence-based policymaking that overcomes the gap that often exists between science and practice.

Data and Digital Technology: Using digital tools for scenario modelling, system analysis, and sustainability forecasting.
