Jordan, Royal Scientific Society

The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is Jordan’s largest applied research institution, consultancy, and technical service provider, and a recognized regional leader in science and technology. It is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit multidisciplinary institution established by Royal Charter in 1970 to provide sound scientific and policy advice in support of Jordan’s development.

Founded through the vision of His Majesty the Late King Hussein and HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, RSS continues to thrive under the leadership of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and a global advocate for science and development.

With a headquarters campus in Amman covering 340,000 sqm and research, testing, and outreach activities reaching all governorates of Jordan, RSS employs over 600 scientists, researchers, engineers, and support staff. Its laboratories are nationally and internationally accredited, and it partners with institutions in over 20 countries. The Society supports both the public and private sectors by delivering practical, science-based solutions to local and global challenges.

RSS offers a wide range of services that include accredited laboratory testing, inspection, calibration, certification, and applied research, alongside specialised consultation services across multiple scientific and technical domains. It plays a pivotal role in enhancing product quality, public safety, regulatory compliance, and industrial competitiveness in Jordan and beyond.

Since its inception, RSS has remained committed to improving public health, supporting national industries, promoting economic and social development, and advancing science as a tool for service and impact.
