King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has been a Member since 1987.
KACST plays a vital role in enriching the research, development and innovation ecosystem as a national laboratory and innovation park, and the main engine of the research, development and innovation sector, and the technical reference entity for government agencies and the private sector in the Kingdom. Additionally, it supports innovation by conducting scientific and applied research, accelerating technical development, localizing emerging technologies, and building national capabilities, in order to achieve technical progress and enhance sustainable development in the Kingdom.
KACST implements research into national research, development and innovation aspirations and priorities. It also works to enhance local and international partnerships to transfer, localize, and develop technologies, as well as provides consulting, services, innovative solutions, and invests in technology development and improves its business operations.
Furthermore, KACST creates technology parks, innovation hubs, incubators, and business accelerators, and provides support capabilities for them, and makes its laboratories and infrastructure available in order to assist researchers, scientists and innovators in developing their ideas and transferring them into startups, in addition to establishing non-profit entities and attracting entrepreneurs to enhance local technical content with emerging technologies.
Research and Development at KACST prepares and implements scientific and applied research through its four sectors: Health, Sustainability and Environment, Energy and Industry, and Future Economies, to find innovative solutions and address national and international challenges, and to build specialized national cadres to be research, development and innovation leading entities, through the development and localization of deep technologies.
