Following the historic hashtag#PactForTheFuture adopted by all 193 UN Member States in September 2024, the 4th UN Open Science & Open Scholarship Conference will accelerate transformations in global access to science and scholarship by directly addressing Actions 28-33 on science, technology, innovation, and digital cooperation. The conference will be held at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan and online from 16 to 18 October 2025.

Despite various challenges faced, including funding constraints, the organizing team remained committed to delivering a world-class hybrid conference that ensures no country or community is left behind in participating in this critical scientific dialogue we’ve fostered since 2018. This marks the first time that the conference will be convened outside UN headquarters in New York.

In collaboration with UNESCO and United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, you are invited to join policymakers, researchers, academics, librarians, publishers, and civil society as we work toward truly open, equitable science for all.
